Fil-Chinese boost ComVal

school building program

COMPOSTELA VALLEY - The Chinese blood running in the governor of Compostela Valley province governor is translating into benefits for the local public school system.

Top officials of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry arrived here on Monday to turn over to Governor Arturo “Chiongkee” Uy four more classrooms donated by the business chamber. The latest donation---two classrooms for the San Roque Elementary School and two for the Manat national High School---brought to 28 classrooms from the Manila-based business chamber headed by national executive director Moises “Bobby” Lim.

Lim, national director Joseph Kho and project director Jemar Pascual said more donations would coming from the chamber in support of Gov. Uy, a native-born Fil-Chinese Uy family of Magnaga, Pantukan. The chamber’s donations were largely through the effort of Gov. Uy that started while he was still a member of the Provincial Board. He counts many members of the Fil-Chinese business chamber as friends.

“Hindi lang po yan, maaring sa darating na mga araw ay madagdagan pa ang tulong na maibigay namin sa lalawigang ito dahil sa tiyaga at kasipagang ipinakita ng inyong gobernador sa aming pederasyon,” said Lim after the turn-over and blessing ceremonies, attended by Vice Governor Ramil Gentugaya and Nabunturan Mayor Macario Humol. At the convocation at Holy Mass at the Provincial Capitol held for the visiting Manila businessmen, Gov. Uy introduced them to capitol employees after expressing his thanks for the donations that boosted the province’s educational program.
